Jacob and Edlin were both born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area before each moving to and consequently meeting in San Diego years later. Once married, they continued to live in San Diego for a few years before realizing they wanted a change. Missing Northern California, they eventually made the move back up north along with their two daughters, settling in Chico in 2022.
Jacob spent 15 years working in Fire/EMS along with the fitness industry. He served in multiple roles including a Paramedic, Firefighter/Paramedic, and ultimately an EMS Battalion Chief. In the fitness industry he spent time as a Personal Trainer, CrossFit Coach, Podcast Host, Fitness Education Advisor, and now an Adaptive Fitness Coach.
Edlin graduated from San Diego State University with her Bachelor’s of Applied Arts and Sciences degree in Criminal Justice and then worked as a Child Support Officer for the county of San Diego before eventually working as a Client Services Manager in the private sector. After her daughter’s diagnosis she decided to quit her job to better support her daughter’s needs and therapy schedule and has since continued to play the role of homemaker/caregiver/ appointment-keeper/homeschool teacher/cook/etc. for her family.
There is and always has been a huge gap in the fitness industry (along with many other industries) when it comes to serving and including people with disabilities. Jacob and Edlin soon realized this after their oldest daughter was diagnosed with severe autism before the age of 2. After years of thought and discussion, Mind Path Fitness was born out of a dream to meet this important need. Our children and loved ones who require extra support should not have to miss out on things that will enrich their quality of life. We look forward to serving you and your family.
